Personal injury refers to the area of law that seeks to protect victims who are harmed by the actions of another individual or entity.  Personal injury claims can include car accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, slip and falls, dog bites, wrongful death, products liability and a variety of other types of accidents causing severe injuries.  If you, or someone you care about, are injured in an accident, it is a difficult situation for anyone to determine what to do after an accident and what the steps are you should follow.

Under California law, injured victims have the right to recover monetary compensation for all the costs and damages associated with the accident.   At the Law Offices of Quincy B. Cornelius we will make sure your legal rights are protected, that you receive proper medical attention and that you receive the compensation you are entitled to for your injuries.

Listed below is the process of a personal injury case.  Please be advised that each case is different:

  • Consultation with the attorney.

  • Attorney reviews and discusses the client’s personal injury claim with them.

  • Attorney gathers the required information from client for example (Traffic Collision Report, Medical Records, Photographs, etc).

  • Attorney reviews the client’s automobile insurance policy to determine what coverages are available under their own automobile insurance policy.  The attorney will also suggest to the client what additional coverages or changes he, or she, should purchase for future protection.

  • Immediately contact the insurance company to put them on notice of the claim.  Inform the insurance company that you have legal representation and the insurance company is not to contact the client, but must now contact their attorney.

  • Order the Traffic Collision Report, if not yet provided by the client, for the attorney to review the facts of the accident, insurance coverage, and any witness' statements provided to the reporting officer.

  • Send a Medical Authorization to each of the medical providers with whom our client has received, or is receiving, medical treatment to monitor our client’s treatment for the injuries sustained.

  • Keep Client informed at all times.
